Click or tap any star to see its map hex and Zulu, its true distance from Sol in Lites, and where today's measurements put it. To measure between any two points, use the MEASURE SHIFTS button.

Measure a shift

Tap a star for the starting point, then a second star for the destination. You can also type a star's name or any LiteZulu, like 1922/+2.

How distances and shifts work

Planar Delta: count hexes on the flat map from start to destination.
Zulu Delta: the difference between the two Zulu numbers (the number after the slash).
True distance: the slanted side of the triangle, √(Planar² + Zulu²), rounded to the nearest Lite. This is exactly what the True Distance Table [7.61] gives.
Safe or Overshift: each type of shift has a safe maximum [7.5]. Beyond it, every extra Lite moves the shift one column right (A to F; two Lites per column for Gate-to-Gate), and a chit from 0 to 9 decides the result.
Mirror Shift [7.54]: the StarForce lands the same distance in the opposite direction, with the Zulu change reversed, kept inside the map and the Zulu limits [7.55].
